New invoicing obligations
VeriFactu and electronic invoicing are not the same
VeriFactu and mandatory electronic invoicing are related to the digitalisation of invoicing, but they are not the same obligation.
VeriFactu affects invoicing software systems and the requirements they must meet to guarantee the integrity, retention, traceability and unalterability of invoicing records. The AEAT explains that the VeriFactu Regulation focuses on the software systems that support invoicing processes.
The mandatory B2B electronic invoicing affects transactions between businesses and professionals. Real Decreto 238/2026 (Royal Decree) develops the system of mandatory electronic invoicing between businesses and professionals and the requirements for exchange platforms.
At Asesoría Orihuela Costa we do not offer you just another theoretical explanation: we help you prepare your invoicing in a practical way, with a solution included in our fee and coordinated with your tax and accounting management.

1. Invoicing solution included
We provide our clients with an invoicing solution ready for the new obligations, included within our advisory fee.

2. Guided setup
We help you start using the tool in an orderly way, so that you can issue your invoices correctly from the outset.

3. Coordination with accounting and IVA
Invoicing should not be separate from accounting. We coordinate your invoices with record books, IVA, tax forms and accounting management.

4. Guidance on VeriFactu and electronic invoicing
We explain which obligation affects your company or activity, which deadlines you must take into account and how to prepare without improvising.

5. Ongoing tax advice
In addition to the tool, you have a tax and accounting advisory service that reviews your situation and supports you in complying with your obligations.
Preparation before 2027, don't leave it until the last minute
Electronic invoicing
Adapting to VeriFactu and to electronic invoicing is not only about having a program. It also involves changing invoicing habits, organising documentation, reviewing how invoices are issued and better coordinating information with accounting and taxes.
For VeriFactu, the AEAT indicates as reference dates 1 January 2027 for taxpayers subject to Corporate Income Tax and 1 July 2027 for the other obligated parties affected.
For B2B electronic invoicing, Real Decreto 238/2026 (Royal Decree) is already published, although its effective application remains linked to the development of the public solution and subsequent deadlines.
Preparing in advance helps avoid rushing, mistakes and poorly implemented changes.
Attention to companies with foreign or online software
If your Spanish company uses an online, international invoicing program or one contracted outside Spain, it is advisable to check in good time whether it will be adapted to VeriFactu and to the Spanish invoicing obligations. At Asesoría Orihuela Costa we can offer you an invoicing solution included in our fee to work in a more coordinated way with your accounting and taxes.
Companies, SMEs and self-employed
Who needs to prepare for VeriFactu and electronic invoicing?
This page is intended for companies, SMEs, self-employed workers and professionals who issue invoices using software and need to adapt their management before the new obligations become enforceable.
You should pay special attention if you use an invoicing program, issue invoices to other companies or professionals, work with national or international clients, have several users issuing invoices, manage receipts or simplified invoices, or want to better connect invoicing with accounting and taxes.
The new invoicing obligations will especially affect companies, self-employed workers and professionals who issue invoices using software. It is not only about changing a tool: invoicing must be coordinated with accounting, IVA, record books and tax returns.
At Asesoría Orihuela Costa we help our clients prepare with an invoicing solution included in our advisory fee, designed to work in an orderly way with their tax and accounting obligations.
Commercial companies will need to pay special attention to VeriFactu, because the deadline to adapt invoicing software systems comes sooner for entities subject to Corporate Income Tax.
If your company issues invoices with an online program, a foreign application or a tool not adapted to Spanish regulations, it is advisable to act in good time to avoid rushed changes.
Self-employed workers and professionals who use software to issue invoices must also prepare. The obligation does not only affect large companies: many small businesses will have to adapt the way they invoice.
Our service is designed so that the self-employed can issue invoices in a more orderly way and coordinated with their tax advisory.
Many SMEs use online invoicing programs, international applications or solutions implemented years ago. The problem is that not all programs will necessarily be ready for the Spanish obligations.
In our advisory we do not act as an external software consultant, but we do offer our clients a practical invoicing solution included in the fee, coordinated with accounting, IVA and tax forms.
Businesses that issue many invoices, receipts or simplified invoices need particular order in their invoicing. Numbering, corrections, record retention and the connection with accounting will be increasingly important.
Good management from the start avoids errors and makes the monthly work with the advisory easier.
Mandatory electronic invoicing between businesses and professionals is an obligation distinct from VeriFactu, although both affect the way invoices are issued and managed.
Real Decreto 238/2026 (Royal Decree) regulates mandatory B2B electronic invoicing and provides for a progressive implementation linked to the development of the public solution.
This point is especially important for Spanish companies managed by foreign clients residing in Spain. Many use online invoicing programs from other countries and may not know whether they will be adapted to VeriFactu or to the Spanish obligations.
At Asesoría Orihuela Costa we provide service in Spanish, English and French and we help ensure the company’s invoicing is coordinated with accounting, IVA and tax returns in Spain.

FAQs about VeriFactu deadlines
When will VeriFactu be mandatory?
Entities that file Corporate Income Tax will need to have their invoicing software systems adapted before 1 January 2027. For the other obligated parties affected, the deadline will be until 1 July 2027.
What happens if I use a foreign or online invoicing program?
You should confirm with your provider whether the program will be adapted to the Spanish obligations. If you prefer to work in a coordinated way with your advisory, at Asesoría Orihuela Costa we offer an invoicing solution included in our fee.
Does B2B electronic invoicing have the same deadlines as VeriFactu?
No. They are different obligations. VeriFactu has specific dates for the adaptation of invoicing systems. B2B electronic invoicing depends on the ministerial order developing the public solution; from that order, deadlines of 12 or 24 months will apply depending on the volume of transactions.
